Stoneskin (Sax Tegmus)
The caster summons the strength of the stones up from the ground imbuing their very skin with a rock like hardness.

Effect: The casters skin takes on a dusky gray look as a fine layer of stone covers their body, providing them with Armor:3.

Crystal Armor (Vasis Tegmus)
The caster pulls dust particles from around them forcing them into a crystal matrix covering their skin making for an excellent armor.
Type: Earth evocation, defensive block (armor)
Power: 5 shifts
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items
Duration: 2 exchanges
Effect: The caster’s skin takes on a sheen as a thin layer of glass forms around the body providing them with Armor:2

Hand of Stone (Lapum Manu)
A stone hand appears out of the ground and smashes opponents.
Type: Earth evocation, offensive attack
Power: 6 shifts
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items; roll for each round maintained.
Duration: 2 exchanges
Effect: A Giant Earthen Fist springs forth from the ground, attacking as the caster directs. It’s equivalent to a Weapon: 5
Opposed by: Target’s Athletics skill, magical blocks, or some other skill as determined in play.
Variations: A caster could divide the shifts of effect among two or more targets, rolling to hit each separately.
Notes: Extra shifts could be spent to extend the duration, can also be turned into a 5 shift block.

Glasswall (Vasis Vallis)
A concave shield of glass springs forth from the ground protecting the caster from assault.
Type: Earth evocation, defensive block
Power: 6 shifts
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items.
Duration: 2 exchanges
Effect: Deflects incoming attacks, if overcome it shatters.
Variations: A caster could funnel two extra shifts into it to cover an ally as well.

Tremor (Terris Vexarum)
This spell causes the earth to quake and shudder
Type: Earth evocation, offensive maneuver
Power: 5 shifts (3 for effect, 2 for wide effect)
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items.
Target: Every person within a single zone
Opposed by: Target’s Athletics
Effect: The target has the aspect Knocked Prone applied to him
Variations: With an invocation of a scene aspect – Debris – or something similar, you could turn this as an outright attack. More shifts could be applied to extend the duration and turn the aspect into a sticky aspect.

TIMBER!! (Turbarvin)
This spell takes any lightpole, telephone pole, really anything that’s tall, heavy and anchored into the earth; and turns it into a weapon.
Type: Earth evocation, offensive maneuver/attack
Power: 6 shifts
Control: Roll Discipline plus 2 for an aspect invocation (see Notes).
Opposed by: Target’s Athletics
Effect: The caster loosens the earth anchoring the object into place causing it to fall hopefully onto the hapless target, as a Weapon: 6 attack.
Notes: This spell requires an aspect like Nearby Pole to pull off. The Caster casts the spell to soften the earth, applying the temporary scene aspect Falling Object which the caster immediately tags, adding plus two to their Discipline roll. The pole immediately makes an attack vs. the target using the caster’s original Discipline roll (plus the two for the aspect tag).

Quicksand (Syrtium)
This spell causes the ground underneath the target to become a quicksand trap.
Type: Earth evocation, offensive maneuver
Power: Varies, at minimum 4 shifts 3 for effect, 1 for duration
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items.
Duration: One scene.
Opposed by: Target’s Athletics
Effect: The target has the sticky Stuck in Place temporary aspect applied.
Variations: The target’s ability to resist the spell may cause the number of shifts for effect to be adjusted. For an additional 2 shifts one could increase the area to a whole zone.

Animate Sculpture (Sculptus Animus)
This spell takes any statue and turns it into a weapon at the direction of the caster
Type: Earth evocation, offensive maneuver/attack
Power: 7 shifts
Control: Roll Discipline plus 2 for an aspect invocation (see Notes).
Opposed by: Target’s Athletics
Effect: By using his connection to Earth, the caster causes the stone and metal of the sculpture to bend to his will turning it into a Weapon: 7
Notes: This spell requires an aspect like Nearby Statue to pull off. The caster casts the spell to briefly animate the statue, applying the temporary aspect Sculpture Servant to himself, which the caster immediately tags, adding two to his Discipline roll. The statue makes an immediate attack equal to the caster’s Discipline roll plus two (for the aspect tag).

Earthen Wall (Vallis Fictilus)
This spell raises an earthen border across a zone.
Type: Earth evocation, defensive block/Armor
Power: 7 shifts
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items.
Duration: 2 exchange
Effect: An earthen wall is raised across a border increasing it’s rating by 4 and granting Armor:2 to anyone who takes cover behind it.

Grasping Hands of Earth (Rapas Coti)
This spell causes hands of earth to rise up and grapple the target
Type: Earth Evocation, offensive block; adjudicated as a grapple
Power: 7 shifts – 4 for effect, 3 for duration
Control: On the first round, roll Discipline plus applicable specializations and focus items
Target: One target in line of sight, inflicting physical stress
Duration: 4 exchanges total
Opposed by: Target’s Endurance skill. Magical blocks might be effective in the first round; armor is ineffective.
Effect: The first round establishes the grapple. Each round thereafter, the target rolls Might. If the roll fails to beat the spell’s effect (Great +4), the target suffers one shift of physical stress as their legs are crushed.

Fissure (Rimnus)
This spell causes the earth to crack
Type: Earth evocation, offensive maneuver
Power: 6 shifts (3 for effect, 2 for wide effect, 1 for duration)
Control: Roll Discipline plus specializations and focus items.
Target: Zone
Duration: 2 exchanges.
Effect: The Zone has the aspect Unstable Footing
Variations: More shifts could be applied to extend the duration.
